Customer Profile: World Bank funded electricity power distribution company which handles the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.

Program/project objective: Proposed and implemented an integrated Oracle Inventory Management, Design and Control, Customer Incidence, Human Resource Planning and Billing Energy Management System.

Created custom application interfaces focusing on change and risk management, business reports, code tuning and architecture enhancements, gap analysis, application integrity, security and control fundamentals ensuring quality, reliability and successfully completing project deliverables.

Conducted resource performance review and feedback to project business sponsors, project teams, end-users, applications development staff and monitoring all stakeholders to ensure that projects meet critical specifications including schedule and budget.

Vocational Training Authority

Case Overview

Customer Profile: The Vocational Training Authority monitors and regulates Vocational Training and it’s main functions are to:

– Promote access to training opportunities on an equitable basis.

– Accredit, register and monitor all training institutions to ensure they adhere to the required standards and quality of training.

– Develop and review national training standards for levels within the framework to form a clear and consistent system that is relevant to Botswana’s economy.

– Guide the development of programme courses and curricula in vocational training.

– Register vocational training teachers to ensure standards of teaching, assessment and grading are maintained.

– The Authoritys mandate is executed through five agencies of Quality Assurance, Structured Work Based Learning, Planning and Research (DPR), Finance and Administration and Directorate of the Chief Executive.

Program/project objective: Development of Statement of user Requirements for the Vocational Training Authority.
The primary objective of the project was to extensively examine existing work process, data gathering, and management information process to produce a detailed statement of user requirements. While making this SOUR, Sambiri had to consider the possibility of improving existing business processes.

Sambiri carried out detailed user requirements for computerisation of the the Authority’s functions. This included but not limited to:

a) The Human resources management system

b) The records management system

c) Development of the vocational training fund management system

d) Development of the corporate Intranet and interactive Website

e) Integration of the systems with their database system

f) Development of a management information interface to the integrated systems

Sambiri carried out the feasibility study for the implementation of a Knowledge Management System and recommend the strategy and methodology for implementation of the system.

We used the existing business documents such as their five (5) year strategic plans and made necessary recommendations so that they could be incorporated into the envisaged system(s).

We advised on the requirements of the solution for both hardware and software and took into consideration the existing computerised systems.

We analysed the appropriateness of implementing the system either by developing a bespoke application or purchase and customisation of a packaged solution. This was done in consideration of the existing environment and integration factors.

We had to develop the terms of reference and the implementation plan of the envisaged system and include the estimated costs. We also had to carry out the user profile analysis and make recommendations for appropriate training.

Trust Bank

Case Overview

Customer Profile: Trust Bank was founded in 2000 and later merged with Royal Bank.

Program/project objective: Supplied an IBM iSeries server that was integrated with xSeries servers hosting OS400 and Microsoft operating systems which hosts of its core banking application. Sambiri also supplied Websphere MQ Series software for application integration and provides maintenance support.

Customer Profile: The Coca-Cola Company, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is the world’s largest beverage company, largest manufacturer, distributor and marketer of non-alcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups in the world and is one of the largest corporations in the United States. The company is best known for its flagship product Coca-Cola and offers nearly 400 brands in over 200 countries or territories.

Program/project objective: Managing an Install-Move-Add-Change (IMAC) multi-year services agreement providing problem source identification, impact validation & resolution and security management.

Implementing and supporting standard and in-house applications, operating systems, hardware, peripherals and network problems using the clients Call Management System.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB)

Case Overview

Customer Profile: The Standard Chartered Group was formed in 1969 through a merger of two banks: The Standard Bank of British South Africa founded in 1863, and the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, founded in 1853. Program/project objective: ambiri supplied (Personal Computing Division) PCD products, that is, computers and laptops and signed a an annual renewable Service Level Agreement (SLA) to provide maintenance and managed support services for the client’s IBM iSeries servers and PCD products in 2002.

Case Overview

Customer Profile: Schweppes is a beverage producer since 1783 and is a bottling partner with Coca-Cola.

Program/project objective: Supply, installation and configuration of IBM xSeries server. Supply of Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting four remote depots to Schweppes HQ which are 226 kilometres apart connecting via Powertel fibre link.

The activities of Office of the Auditor General have grown in volume over the years due to increase in scope and complexity of its operation, such as inclusion of performance audits, IT Audits and general growth of government online services.

Program/project objective: Development of a statement of user requirements (SOUR) for the computerisation of the audit process.
The Office of Auditor General needed to computerize their Audit Process to enhance the quality, productivity and cost effectiveness. It also increased the work coverage and effective use of resources. Electronic delivery of services and semi-paperless system will encourage a move away from the traditional audit techniques of batching large volumes of transactions manually. This will considerably reduce the amount of time auditors take in collecting and examining information as computers could perform the same function in a very short time.

In order to come up with a system, that would suite this office best, a consultant was required to produce a SOUR and a system design proto-type for the implementation of the computerized audit process system.

Program/project objective: Developed detailed functional business Statements of Work (SOW), selection criteria, purchase contracts and service level agreements.

Evaluated and recommended Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), business technology, services and solutions.

Performed feasibility studies for the implementation of knowledge management systems, enterprise intranet and portal web services including online human resources management and end-user skills development.
